This & That (trying to catch up!)

One evening when the weather was nice we walked the golf course while Hots played.  (He said it was within the bounds of golf etiquette since it was almost dark and there were no other golfers on the green.)

J enjoyed the grass under his bare feet.

And both boys were very helpful to Hots. ;)

They found several unclaimed golf balls along the course and L tried out his raking skills to get this one.

Though we had various forms of illness during most of her visit, we did get to hang out with Aunt Annie one day while she was here and hit up the Shreiner Mansion.

L's little preschool includes the TOT (Teams of Tomorrow basketball skills) program and they had a big performance during halftime at the varsity game.

It was so cute and L did a great job!  They demonstrated various ball handling skills to the tune of several familiar kids' songs.

The people in our new town have been SO friendly and welcoming.  Our first party experience was a princess tea party themed birthday party.

As you can imagine, all the little girls arrived in head to toe princess getup.  There were jewels of all kinds as well as tiaras for the girls.  And.......swords for the boys!  Genius!  

Of course, my boys are 5 & 6, so those moms there with their 3-year-old boys might have classified this situation as my worst nightmare.  (Have you ever been in charge of a 3-year-old boy with a sword confined to a room full of princesses after having indulged in cake & punch?)

It was very nice to (finally) be the mom of the slightly older boys who knew how to use restraint in such a situation and who were also big enough to take care of themselves/not get poked in the eye by one of those 3-year-olds.

It was a super cute party and we all had fun.

We've still been hiking every chance we get.  Here's to Daylight Savings Time this weekend and frequent after school/after work hikes in our future!

Nonnie & Papa Jim made it over for the boys' basketball games while they were staying nearby at Alto Frio Encampment with the Texas Baptist Men's Ministry.  So glad they made the drive to spend the day with us!

One day Grandmama, L, SK, and I drove out to the camp to visit Nonnie & Papa Jim and had lunch in their motor home, which is a HUGE treat for the kiddos.  J thought due to the magnitude of the occasion-dining in the motor home-that he should be taken out of school to make the trip.  Sorry, dude, but they have promised to come back this spring.

One Saturday SK and I drove to Georgetown for a couple of bridal showers for Ellie (Hots' first cousin).   It was a nice trip but I'd somehow forgotten the challenges of traveling with a 1-year-old.  No rest for the weary.  And by the end of the first shower I was weary!

And, finally, I'm beginning to wonder if this weather will ever change.  Here's a pic of a semi frozen fountain in town.  (Remind me of this when it is 112 degrees this summer!)
