L before a much needed bath. Can you tell that he'd been eating dirt, then put in his paci? Gross, but still super cute to his momma. :)

Morning at the Peters'
Recently we went to the Peters' so I could work on weeding their garden (therapeutic for me) and the boys could play. I generously allowed them full run of the entire garden trap, which is about 2 acres, has plenty of trees, dirt, and even a water trough complete with insect larva and algae-Any boy's dream, right?
Apparently even J & L know that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. They started whining along the fence, then J repeatedly opened the gate, which he could not close. After about 15 minutes and 4 trips to close it myself, I surrendered and we moved on, not having made much of a dent in the weed population.
First we visited Apache.

Then Tracy showed up and helped J ride a steer. Tanner had arrived by then, too, and he and Tracy gathered eggs; one egg, actually, and he was sooooo proud. We were proud he carried it all the way to Mr. Peters in one piece. :)

Love the expression on each face!

Go Fly a Kite
We finally got to fly the kite Leslie gave J a while back. He LOVES his kite and the raging winds around here lately have made it that much more fun to fly.

Target Practice (Makes Perfect?)
There comes a time in every boy's life when he takes his first shots with a gun. Okay, so maybe not every boy, but the ones in our fam, anyway-girls, too, for that matter.
One morning before he left for work, B told J that he would teach him to shoot when he got home. That evening B set up the dog water bowl to use as a target. (Don't worry, Dad, it was safely set where the bbs would ricochet away from everyone's eyeballs.:)

B discussed safety (HUGE with us-no exceptions.) and how to hold the gun w/ J, then they took several shots. Like every other Kingsbery kid, this gun thing suited him right away.
"I wanna shoot by myself, Daddy," he announced. B let go of the bb gun, still kneeling beside J.
I'll be darned if he didn't take aim and hit that target with a loud 'cling' for proof!
And I had just stepped inside to finish supper-boo. :(
