This guy turned ten on Mother's Day weekend.
To celebrate we camped outside of Junction and enjoyed a 4+ mile kayaking trip. Here's the birthday boy with his cookie cake. (A great option for camping!)
The kids enjoyed playing at the small campground right on the river where we were the only tent campers. There were only 14 campsites so it was uncrowded and safe enough for the kids to roam, which was so nice and a big change from Garner State Park.
Cousin Jackson (& his parents) joined us and the boys and SK played and played and played. J had gotten a new book from Papa and Honey so he did take breaks from playing to read and finished the book in two days. The boy loves to read.
The kayaking trip was a blast. We were on the water mid morning and enjoyed fishing, swimming, having lunch on the river, and some of us enjoyed seeing eleven snakes (1 water moccasin and 10 harmless water snakes). We headed back to the campsite in time to celebrate J's birthday with Kaydie and Grandmama who drove out to have supper and cookie cake with us.
At ten years old, J loves school. He reads voraciously, loves running on his rock wall, playing outside, having airsoft wars with Daddy & L, helping his siblings, and is still always up for anything. Sure do love our boy and look forward to seeing what he'll do this year. :)
