After our church supper and fellowship tonight, we headed to the sanctuary to witness a baptism-the first one the boys have seen.
The baptistery (that's what we called it in the Baptist church, anyway) is built into the floor at the front of the sanctuary and has a big, heavy-duty cover on it, keeping it covered when not in use.
When someone is to be baptized, the cover rolls back, exposing the pool, and friends and family of the person who is being baptized are encouraged to come up onto the stage and sit or stand right around the baptistery-Super cool! And a little unnerving for parents of a 4-year-old and 2-year-old.
The boys did so well and were most interested in the whole process. We were proud they made it through with no cannon balls or belly flops.
