Several weeks ago Grandmama called to ask if the boys could take some time during the school day to check out a fully restored B-24 Liberator which is the only one in flight currently and happened to be at our local airport until early the next afternoon.
Um, of course! We would not miss the opportunity to see the plane in which Grandpapa had flown with Grandmama there to fill us in on all of the details.
The plane was open and the kids and we were able to spend about an hour exploring inside and out of the aircraft. (There was another one there as well and the kids enjoyed running back and forth from plane to plane, climbing up and through them many times.) Super cool to climb inside.

Grandmama & Kaydie inside; The plane was not built for comfort and we talked about the men and their uniforms back in the forties which we imagined were terribly uncomfortable.

L walking the plank; can't believe the men walked these regularly when the plane was in flight
What a privilege to be there with Grandmama to see and hear about what Grandpapa did in WWII. We are proud and thankful to him and all of the others who served and are serving currently. Blessed to live in the US of A!
