The picture below is one of my favorites from the weekend. It
was taken at the ranch in front of my grandfather's squeeze chute.
Okay, this is one of my favorites, too!

In between hunting trips we were able to spend a couple of hours at the ranch hiking, which my grandmother, mom, and I LOVE to do. Here is a picture of a purple prickly pear. This year there are many with this coloration. Interestingly, only one side of each leaf is purple; the other side is the normal green color. We think the odd color must be due to the drought.

It is always fun to visit with my grandmother. She and my
grandfather have worked on their ranch for many years
and I love hearing their stories.

Brian, Andy, and Chris hunted all day Saturday and Sunday and each killed 2 deer. (Chris also killed 2 turkeys.) For the first time ever, we got home without any hunting pictures. Sorry guys, guess Jack takes the cake!
Jack and I enjoyed spending time with my grandparents and mom. It was so nice to be in south Texas where the pace is much slower than it is here. Despite the slower pace, we always manage to stay busy eating Mexican pastries and being outside!
