Fried "Skrill"

Loved having Hots' fam here for Christmas this year!  Cori & Chad came the weekend before and we always love time with them.  Then Pops & JoJo came with Gran on Saturday and stayed through Christmas.

We enjoyed getting to show them the country life including fried squirrel (or "skrill" as SK says).  Opportunity presented itself (& we'd recently chatted with some experts in all things squirrel) right on our deck so Hots harvested, skinned, and cut it up in no time flat.  It was ready for the skillet along with backstrap!
I just love a man who brings home meat!  Pops is from east Texas so squirrel was not new to his palate.
While it was new to SK's palate, she dove right in and gave it a good gnawing for at least 15 minutes while watching a Christmas movie before declaring she was "tired of chewing this meat" and needed "to spit it out."
It's times like these I often pipe up with, "J sure is enjoying playing the violin in the orchestra!" just so all present know we're classy rednecks.
