Memorial Day Kayaking with Friends

Our good friends have a sweet hookup on the river where we could put our kayaks in for a 4+ mile float so that's what we decided to do for Memorial Day.

The H's also have two boys and we all had lots of fun.  There was fishing, jumping off of large rocks into the river, swimming, and lots of paddling leisurely down the mostly shaded river.

SK was with Hots when he caught this one.  She was all about holding it.

As usual, we spotted some snakes!

At one point SK got off my kayak and onto the bank of the river.  Right away she said in her pleasantly surprised voice, "Oh, it's a little snakey-snake!"

I gave it a once over (while staying in my kayak) and suggested she call the boys over to catch it.  They did and then all 5 kids took turns handling the little water snake; probably the most terrifying 4 minutes of its life.

Thankful for friends who enjoy the river as much as we do!
